Being a companion for the elderly in hospital

For elderly patients, having visitors or a companion by their side can help to ease the loneliness and isolation that comes with a hospital stay.

Just by being there and listening to elderly patients speak about their life experiences can be comforting for them and help take their minds off their situation.

Some patients may not have family in the area. Others may have family nearby but other obligations such as work and other family responsibilities may limit the amount of time they can spend in hospital.

A care companion is focused solely on the elderly patient, coming up with things to talk about, activities intended to stimulate and/or just being there to hold his/her hand.

Everything the care companion does is designed to make the patient feel special and reduce the stress associated with their hospital stay.
